Education helps develop individuals in their growth to be competent and self-aware individuals who are capable of enjoying their talents and potentials. Education helps cultivate social awareness, social behavior, citizenship, human dignity, responsibility, individuality, justice, equality, and freedom. Education also enables people to participate in the economic, political, and cultural life of society.
Education encompasses a wide range of activities that contribute to individual development and growth. Education encompasses learning, teaching, learning practices, learning objectives, instructional design, evaluation and assessment, and feedback mechanisms for learning. Individuals, communities, states, and the nation as a whole to pursue education. Education helps build critical thinking skills, social awareness, and personal qualities. The process of educating individuals promotes the discipline of the individual, societal maturity, and the intellectual and social maturity of the nation.
Education curriculum and learning systems are designed and developed based on the requirements of the students. Education curriculum should be consistent with the needs of students and should be developed in line with their ability. The process of education incorporates both formal and informal processes of teaching and learning. There are four stages in the development of an education curriculum.
Research and analysis phase of the education system involves collecting data and evaluation of the current knowledge and learning practices in education. Data collection and analysis phase of the education system generally occur prior to the development of any curriculum. It assists in determining what content needs to be developed, who should teach it, how it should be taught, what form of teaching should be employed, and how the teaching should be carried out. Analysis phase of education involves the evaluation of the curriculum and its effectiveness. Areas to be examined in the evaluation of the curriculum include the ability of the curriculum to achieve the educational objectives, student motivation and competence, student’s progress towards the goals, institutional structure, curriculum implementation, learning technologies, learning scenarios, teacher involvement, parent involvement, and the activities and tasks of each lesson.
Professional education system develops education programs for students and teachers. Professional education system provides quality education in various fields like arts, humanities, sciences, health and medicine, liberal arts and other such fields. Professional education system has three levels-basic education, intermediate education, and advanced education. In basic education, the education provided to the beginning students is called the primary education. In intermediate education, the education is directed to children from kindergarten until the child reaches the age of sixteen years; this stage is called secondary education.
Advanced education system is comprised of three stages bachelor degree, master degree, and doctorate degree. Bachelor’s degree can be obtained in almost all branches of education. It helps in making you eligible for higher jobs in different fields. Doctorate degree trains you in specialization areas of the education. Students pursuing a doctorate degree can use their knowledge in specific areas of their education like psychology, teaching, counseling, education etc.
Education curriculum comprises of various subjects like English, mathematics, science, social studies, and many more. Every subject is associated with a theory and a practice. The theories and practices in each subject from different curriculum of that subject. There are also various methods, techniques, and strategies used in imparting education. Different methods of imparting education are classroom teaching, distance education, online education, audio-visual technology, and literature-based education. All of these methods have their own advantages and drawbacks.
In the professional education, distance education has some advantages. This kind of education allows professionals who are working in distant places to attend classes regularly. They can attend the classes either on their own or by using any other method. Online education and audio-visual technology help in imparting education at home. The professionals who are not able to join physical classes also use online learning methods.
